Rico Nuevo Viticultores

Rico Nuevo Viticultores is a family-run winery in Burgohondo, Ávila, within the D.O.P. Cebreros region of Sierra de Gredos, Spain. Led by Juan Andrés Martín Pérez, known as Juanan, the winery represents the fourth generation of a family dedicated to traditional viticulture. The project, started in 2017 by Juanan and his father, Juan Antonio Martín, alongside enologist Julio Prieto, honors their ancestor Felipe Martín, nicknamed “Rico Nuevo,” a prominent vine grower and winemaker in the early 20th century.

The winery focuses on old-vine Garnacha and Albillo Real, grown on granite soils at high altitudes (over 1,000 meters) in the Alto Alberche valley, known for its continental climate with Atlantic influences and higher rainfall. Their philosophy emphasizes minimal intervention, plot-by-plot vinification, and environmentally friendly farming to capture the unique minerality, elegance, and freshness of the terroir.

Notable wines include Rico-Nuevo Garnacha, Jirón de Niebla, Barrera del Sol, and Al Raso, which are celebrated for their vibrant acidity, floral and spicy notes, and aging potential. The winery has gained recognition, with several wines scoring 90+ points from Parker’s Wine Advocate
